Baked Brie: Fig, Marcona Almonds and Truffle Honey

Baked Brie: Fig Jam, Marcona Almonds and Truffle Honey

Let’s talk about my absolute favorite thing to make for the holidays. My special baked brie.

Now I would like to think I’m gracing everyone by sharing this recipe because it is so dang good and honestly there is not a single person that doesn’t like it. Plus if you’re looking to impress a certain someone, this will do the trick. It’s actually super simple and super easy but it’s all about finding the quality ingredients that make this delicious baked brie go the distance.

First you need a deliciously creamy brie. Il De Brie and the Wegman’s brand has been my go to, I would prefer the Wegman’s if you’re having a larger party since it’s bigger in size. Next you will have to go to a specialty market that carries imported preserves. I always choose the Dalmatia or Adriatic Fig Jam, they carry this brand at Whole Foods.

Marcona almonds is the next ingredient that will add that wonderful buttery flavor and texture in the perfect bite. A lot of Marcona Almonds come with flavors like rosemary and olive oil and truffle, although they are delicious, for this recipe go for the plain ones. You can also find these at Whole Foods and Wegman’s.

The puff pastry can be Pillsbury or even Trader Joe’s version, if you’re gluten intolerant or allergic Schar just came out with a puff pastry that is amazing! Since, I’m on the gluten intolerant side, I will be using this one.

Last but not least, the truffle honey. Oh boy, this is what makes everything complete. I love the truffle honey from the truffleist but I recently got one from Amazon that was just as good.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Jar of Fig Jam

  • Wheel of brie cheese

  • Marcona almonds- preferably unflavored ¼ cup to 1/2 cup chopped

  • Puff pastry - gluten free or regular

  • Truffle Honey

How To

  1. Follow the instructions on how to thaw the puff pastry.

  2. Put the oven or toaster oven on at 375 degrees.

  3. Place the puff pastry on the baking sheet with a sheet of parchment. Add the wheel of brie in the middle and pour out the whole jar of fig jam, covering the whole top part of the brie. Add a ¼ cup of chopped marcona almonds or more on top of the fig jam, covering the whole top.

  4. Wrap the puff pastry around the whole wheel. Add a little nip and tuck action. You can add egg wash to the gluten free puff pastry but you will have to monitor the brie so it doesn’t burn.

  5. After 20 minutes take out and place all your favorite regular and GF crackers around the brie and last but not least drizzle the truffle honey over it. Add as much or little as you like.

This delicious baked brie will be the talk of the town and you will be known as the entertaining queen or king! I say, it’s good for the holidays but it really is delicious for all year round!;)
