Spiced and Sugary Nuts

I always look forward to this time of year for one thing and one thing only- these spicy and sugar nuts.

This is a recipe that I got from Food and Wine and it’s perfect to add to any charcuterie board, with a delicious holiday cocktail or just on their own.

The perfect blend of spice and sugar and all around deliciousness.

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt

  • 1 tablespoon chile powder

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper

  • 1 large egg white

  • 2 cups of raw cashews

  • 2 cups of raw almonds

How to:

  1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees.

  2. Coat a rimmed baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk the sugar with the salt, chile powder, cinnamon and cayenne pepper.

  4. In a large bowl, beat the egg white until frothy. Add the cashews, almonds and spiced sugar and toss.

  5. Spread out the nuts on the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 45 minutes, stirring once, until browned.

  6. Let the nuts cool on the baking sheet, stirring occasionally.
